To our readers, supporters and local residents

At the start of 2016 we wanted to say THANKS VERY MUCH for all your overwhelming support following the launch of Celebrating Poundbury.

It’s been incredibly humbling to watch the seed of an idea flourish so quickly and make its way into the homes of residents, visitors and readers all around the world.

Whether you have picked up a copy, sent one to a friend or simply helped spread the word, you have helped us bring this idea to life – and helped bring footfall to Poundbury.

In the six months since launch issue we haJohn Challis (Boycie) reading the magazine at the Dorset Food & Arts Festivalve now distributed nearly 10,000 copies to shops, cafes, tourist information centres, hotels and holiday cottages all over Dorset.

There is so much interest in Poundbury that the copies have been in demand. We also now have subscribers all over the world and even as far as New Zealand.

So, from this year we will be now publishing TWO EDITIONS a year. We think this will ensure the content is fresh and up to date but still provide a high quality publication. The magazine will now have a cover price and will be sold in shops all over the south West. The next issue will be in March and Issue 3 will be out in November to mark the unveiling of Queen Mother Square.

We will also be launching an exciting INTERACTIVE edition that will feature high quality videos and rich editorial content that you will be able to download straight to your smartphone or tablet.

2016 in Poundbury

In the next 12 months we will see the further development of the North East Quadrant by the Duchy of Cornwall and its development partners. This alone will bring hundreds more residents to Poundbury. The building of the new Damer’s School will take place all year and in the Autumn we will see the official launch of Queen Mother Square, complete with the unveiling of the Queen Mother statue and the opening of the Poundbury’s first hotel and pub – The Duchess of Cornwall Inn.

There are also lots of events on the horizon organised by the residents, businesses and the Duchy of Cornwall. There will be a launch of the new Discover Poundbury website, various family community events planned by residents and the popular Dorset Foods & Arts Festival in August.

On top of that the Celebrating Poundbury team have lots of events planned to engage the public and social campaigns that will put Poundbury in the spotlight.

We wish you and your families a very happy 2016 from all the team.
